Welcome to The Pondok. Om Swastiastu!

In Bali, when the sun is hottest at midday, a farmer will often take a rest in his “pondok”, a shack made of bamboo and grass  situated in the middle of the ricefields. See top foto by Richard Pearce.

Because one of us is Balinese (Wayan) and one of us is American (Richard) we divide our time between Bali & the USA. The photo at left is us during our wedding ceremony. Wayan’s mom is the laughing lady in pink.

What we do: produce handmade products for other companies (ask for references!) but we also offer a variety of goods from Bali, usually wholesale to small shops, occasionally retail from our house in New Hampshire, USA, but not online (not yet anyway). We support the principles underlying the Fair Trade movement and guarantee that the 300+ Balinese craftsmen and artists who make our products are treated fairly. With the generous support of some of our clients and friends we maintain an emergency medical help fund to assist our artisans in need.

Travel to Bali: We  offer our advice  for people wishing to visit Bali. We can make your trip very special indeed!  We can arrange housing, guides and ground travel all around Bali and other parts of Indonesia. Ask for references and for more info on us check our About Us section: Wayan’s gardens, Richard’s  photographs, Travel guiding to Bali and Our House for rent, video clips of artists and life in Bali.

Please take time to browse our product lines. If you have interest please email us at

Thank you-Terima kasih banyak!  Richard & Wayan.
